SALVATION

Salvation is a deeply personal artwork, created during one of my most transformative periods. It captures the moment I packed up my world in Melbourne, where I had spent 11 years, to answer the call of a new journey in London which commenced in 2024. Through this artwork I released one life to embrace another.
The vision for Salvation came to me months before the physical painting while in London, during my 2023 solo exhibition. I knew it had to be large in scale to reflect the magnitude of change, yet my new studio in London couldn’t accommodate a piece of this size. So, I returned to Melbourne for one last creation, working on Salvation while simultaneously packing up my home and studio.
This painting became a meditation on death. Not in the literal sense, but as the metaphorical ending of a chapter that is accompanied by change. At its core, Salvation is also about rebirth: the manifestation of dreams, the realisation of intentions, and the beginning of a new era. You may see hidden skulls within the artwork to represent this.
Since then I have had a wonderful and colourful life while living in the UK, one that’s been expansive in ways that Australia couldn’t offer. For me, Salvation embodies the truth that with great risk comes the potential for great reward, and the courage to leap into the unknown brings the possibility of extraordinary transformation.
