Evermore and Surrender were created across two artist residencies at The Arx in London between 2022 and 2023. These residencies marked the first time I had travelled internationally on my own and became the stepping stones to my eventual relocation to the UK.

Both works were exhibited in my 2023 London solo exhibition, my 2025 solo exhibition at S Gallery in Madrid, the 2025 ENEAS event in Madrid, and most recently in a private collectors' exhibition in Paris.

Looking back, these paintings capture a period of expansion in my life. During my twenties, I had sacrificed international travel in favour of building my art career, investing every spare dollar back into my practice. By the time these residencies arrived, travelling alone felt both exhilarating and unfamiliar.

There is a sense of mystery woven through both works that reflects that experience. The excitement of stepping into the unknown, navigating new places independently, and discovering parts of myself that could only emerge through movement and change.

As my first internationally-created paintings, Evermore and Surrender represent a significant milestone in my journey as an artist and mark the beginning of a new chapter that would ultimately lead me across the world.
